Equipment:
Don currently uses a Nikon D700 digital camera. Carolyn uses a Nikon D200 or D80 digital camera. Hunter uses a Nikon D80. Many of the older photos on this website were taken with Nikon N90s or N65 film cameras as well. The film used was typically Velvia 100 or Provia transparency film. Transpencies are scanned with a Nikon Coolscan V at 4000 ppi for digital presentation and printing. The Coolscan V reproduces the slide to approximately a 5400 X 3600 pixel digital format at 70 to 110 megabytes depending on the crop size. Resulting photos from film and digital are of high resolution creating a sharp and color rich print.
Photos are printed with an Epson Stylus Photo 2400 Printer using Epson Ultrachrome K3 ink on Ilford Galerie Smooth Pearl paper. Epson UltraChrome K3 ink has improved print permanence characteristics that provide lightfastness ratings of up to 108 years for color and over 200 years for black and white under rigorous industry accepted display conditions.
